Alton, Ia
It would seem to me speed has nothing to do with deck plate performance. It's about in row plant spacing and deck plate length. If for example you are at mid 30's pop and 30" rows, you should have a plant every 6". The deck plates are 24" long(???), but IIRC, the rec is to have the stalk thru mid way up, so in between each pair you should have at most 2, maybe 3 stalks, and towards the upper end the deck plates should be closer since the stalk gets thinner as you go up. So the plants between the plates are the same regardless of ground speed, as long as you have your ground to feederhouse speed ratio close.

Are your knife rolls worn that stalks aren't being pulled thru? Are they mounted correctly? Somehow our knives got mounted "upside-down" and we ran it that way for quite awhile.

Are your linkages wore so much they bind?

Something is not right with your head.

We ran a ser 1 for 8 years, no problems like you describe. Now have a GT, it is awesome.

We are not in market, but was told in May they could get GT heads, but can't get poly for them. That comes from a suburb of Mpls and they can't get people to come to work there, so no poly.
