The 660 was very similar to the International 560 standard tractor. The engines in the 660 ran 2400 rpm for more HP than the 560 which ran 1800 rpm. To reduce the travel speeds from the higher engine rpm the 660's used a planetary speed reduction gearbox in the hub of each rear wheel.
