I think to own a Roth, you may have to be 18. I would invest that in a combination of good stocks. He’ll end up with way more in the long run. Gold and silver pays no dividends and the price seems pretty flat to me. It’s probably not going to double or triple in value like investment in the stock market can. IMO, gold and silver is for people who are already wealthy and just trying to diversify. I still wouldn’t buy gold or silver even if I fell under this category. Obviously, would have to be in a custodial account as they have to be 18.

I don’t know your age etc or experience.
You might be right about Roth side.
Your looking for something that compounds with less taxes.

I disagree about gold and being wealthy.
Had a buddy of mine going through a nasty divorce.
Like 20 yrs ago.
Took his belt off one day.
I was thinking what the you doin.
Buckel weighed about a pound with stones from Mexico.

I just looked it up that buckel with out stones is or was worth about $22000.

When he needed money(liked cards to much)
he would shave a slice off.

He told me buy you a gold necklace when you have a good day. I did.
Forgot about them and almost gave them away.
Well, I had a turn at life’s bad luck.

Girlfriend at the time asked me.
“What do you have in that glove box”.
Old necklaces.
What little did I know at the time.
I was looking for the candid camera and asking the guy are you sure.

Many many yrs ago.
But funny.

Edit:stones from Mexico not gold.
Stones was legal.
