Not to sidetrack the thread too far, but you mentioned Jay Leno's electric car. He did a write up on it a while back, a short but interesting article.
Did you know that his 100+ year old car, still is using the original batteries? It runs on special Edison Electric batteries, that are designed to be cleaned and re-used (by the owner of the car) and were designed to last 100 years.
Think about that, over 100 years ago, they designed the batteries to not be thrown away, to not wind up in a landfill.
Of course, back then it was probably a selling point that the batteries would last the life of the owner.

Problem = distance.
Give example.
Wanted to visit family down in Oklahoma.
So we drove down and had a good visit about 80 miles. Nice fixable house possibly air bnb.
Then we decided to go to fort smith Arkansas about 160 miles. Then we decided to go home about 200 through the scenic mountains.

Originally we went for burgers about 30 miles away.

We did all this on less than a tank of gas.
Gas left over.
Let’s say I used the whole tank.
It would of cost less than $40.
I know other costs.

Tires id bet going to be a issue.
Heavy/torque.
