Before you start talking down John Deere about having a sensor on the drive shaft do some research as to why its there. Many pip's were done on four wheel drive tractors because a bad accident occured involving a tractor and motor vehicle when the ujoint when out on the front drive shaft and the drive shaft broke free and swung around knocking off the hydraulic lines causing loss off steering and thus the accident. That sensor monitors if the ujoint play and warns when the shaft gets closer to the sensor.
