McLean county IL | Highly suggest Cades Cove (part of the Smoky Mtg Park ( located on the western part; is a drive thru. Can view wildlife (turkeys, deer, and yes, often bear. Sometimes cars can get backed up as a park ranger monitors folks stopping at a bear sighting. But nice place and picnic areas provided.
Might also suggest staying over at Townsend, TN. Located just west of Gatlinburg and due south of Knoxville. Hwy 321. It's much quieter and less congested/commercialism. Bike/walking paths, eateries, plenty of things to see/do. Can easily get over to the National Park to visit as well as the commercialized stuff at P.F. and Gatlinburg for day visit. My family and I owned a rental home from 2009 till summer, 2020 at Townsend so am well acquainted with the area. I'd got for a week in the spring for a "working vacation" at our Townsend place. Very relaxing. also, there's that big mansion place to visit over eastward of the Smokies but the name escapes me??? Perhaps someone will mention it here.....
My two cents worth. Enjoy. | |
