The rye I sowed after we cut silage a month ago was ankle high too, the army worms ate it down to the bare dirt! I drove by one day and was like what the heck happened to my rye lol.
I had that happen a few years ago and killed my rye. I couldn’t believe it didn’t come back after I sprayed it to late I guess.
