A professional critter catcher told me he uses groundhog poop for bait. He recycles it from previous catches..... Trap placement is important and stabilize the trap on solid ground so it doesnt rock. Also place a concrete pblock on top will help firm it up ,too. Snares have caught many hogs and are safe around pets.
