SE Arkansas | Basis is negative on the Mississippi River down here in SE Arkansas, but they are still accepting Corn and Soybeans and loading them on barges. The Soybean harvest is about 10-20 percent complete. Corn is about 80 percent. There was still some Old Crop Corn in the system, but the Soybeans were mostly gone. The ArkLaMiss will probably put about 100-150 Million Bushels of Corn on the River, so they should be able to clear things up over the next few weeks in time to handle the Midwest Shipments and the Soybean Harvest down here. There was a good bit of damage to terminals down there, but the loss of power was a big issue. Also navigation problems from Baton Rouge to New Orleans have to be cleared as well. River People are amazing. This problem will be solved very quickly. | |
