East Central Ia | We are about to decide and order a new head for next year.
We are deciding between a 22’ Drago GT or a 22’ Geringhoff Northstar.
Non chopping, non folding.
I wouldn’t mind more aggressive stalk action but do not want to go to a full chopping head at this time.
How well do the Calmer stalk rolls work? Curious if this would be a nice option to move to once the Geringhoff head needs parts replaced.
These will be 18r20” and I am not comfortable that my combine (14’ Lexion 740) will run a full chopping head to my satisfaction.
This will replace a series one Drago 18r20”
Really like the Drago, but hate the entire auger setup. A few other small complaints but all in all the seem to be improved with the GT series.
We had a Geringhoff Northstar on our last Red combine about 10-12 years ago. We had a few issues but I remember being impressed with how well Geringhoff stood behind and supported their product. I do remember having issues with it wanting to push stalks over if you got off the row even a little bit, or when pulling out of a pass. Like the gathering chains weren’t fast or aggressive enough.
Our Geringhoff dealer would be my Lexion dealer and they are about 5 miles away.
My Drago dealer has been very good but they are 60 miles away.
