Mid Michigan | I have a friend that used to be one of those competetive pumpkin growers. He grew a 525 lb one and it was perfectly shaped. He said one of his best secrets was to water the plants with nutrient rich warm brown pond water out of his pond. Really made them grow. I have a patch almost exactly like yours with my pumpkins and sunflowers and tomatos all together and the best pumpkins I get are usually out in the soybean field next to the garden after the runners go way out there and they grow under the bean canopy. We usually get enough to carve some at halloween. I take them to work with a LED wagon flasher in them and it will glow or flash for the entire nigth with no problem. People at work LOVE it when I bring those in.
