Straw can be a bit of a bugger to begin with. How long of a tail is it leaving in the duckbill after the knife cuts it? You can adjust the length of the tail, but if its leaving next to nothing I'd try sharpening the knife first. If the knife isn't sharp enough, it will tear the net instead of cutting leaving very little to start on the next bale.
