North central, IA | If you buy a red one spend an additional $20 to buy an IT shop manual, learn how to adjust the clutch, shift linkage and the TA dump valve and all the "shifting problems" everyone whines and complains about become a non-issue. Also, if you get a red tractor of that era look for one with a water filter.
I have had and currently have 86 series IH tractors and currently have a JD 4640. Both are good tractors. The IH will cost 1/2 to 2/3 as much up front and parts will cost less as well. The JD will ride nicer. | |
