Subject: RE: Windmills...renewable energy?

So, I will put this out there....

I have read many posts here and there about end of life of windmills and what happens. The assumption always seems to be that said windmill lasts 20yrs ( or X whatever...) and the land lease/easement is done and now the whole works gets dug out and scrapped, etc. Lots of concern about how to reclaim land with footings for these....

Why would that happen as opposed to the existing windmill wears out and gets overhauled/repaired or even replaced on the footing and things continue indefinitely? I have seen some of these footings going in and they should last for 100yrs or more. Why the assumption the windmill thing goes away and we are back to 50yrs ago??

Its not like energy requirements are going to suddenly drop in the next 20-30yrs and these windmills are no longer useful....

Maybe the concern is the builders today are all fly-by-night type leaving the land owner in the wind?
