Nebraska | Dry alfalfa ive baled at 8-9 mph at 1400 RPM on the tractor, makes great bales and leave loss is minimal except when you stop to netwrap. And this is also windrows that rub the front weights on the tractor, its amazing how slow you can turn a deere baler and she just keep eating it up.
edit: speed is the limiting factor in all hay operations: and there is always someone that says they cut, rake, bale and piss off the steps at 14 MPH ALL DAY LONG, I say they full of it, I've hayed about every type of terrain that there is and every field and conditions are different.
Somedays you get to ride along, somedays you get to hang on....
