Subject: RE: Ideas for a Morton barn sliding door center (floor) latch

Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80

I just install this Cannonball unit, for 2 smaller door (8 foot wide, 11 feet tall) in the center of doors, with a concrete hole that is 42" deep. (below frost)

I attached with 4 concrete screws to my upper 16" x 16" square upper concrete pad. This is permanent install, because the only equipment is a JD450 grain drill, that gets parked in thru that doorway.

Note: A person, could weld some vertical pipes, to the bottom of these and make a "removable style" ; also. ( I didn't need that, for my application) My is like the 2nd photo, with curved sides. I added 1/8" flat steel, to bottoms of old wooden doors, so the metal rubs against the center guide, NOT wood. Used a center door latch and 2 inside turnbuckles and hooks, on inside at outer edges, to keep door tight, on this West facing door.

Internet pictures, of the Cannonball center guide.
