| I would lean toward the wet slug theory then. Most people think a John Deere baler is supposed to stop when the sheer bolt breaks. The bolt only gets rid of flywheel momentum when the plunger stops or slows significantly. You could take the flywheel right off and keep bailing, but it is a lot harder on the gear set in the gear box with out the flywheel adding momentum to help propel the plunger. If you slow down a bit I bet you will not have as many broken bolts since you say the clutch slips occasionally. You might want to check the clutch adjustment. There is a specification for spring length in the manual. If it slips to easily, the sudden deceleration may be breaking the bolts. | |
