Are you tightening the bolt all the way tight, or are you using a lock nut and leaving it about a thread loose? Over the years they develop wear in the flywheel bushing and if you tighten the bolt all the way down you are trying to pull all the slop out of the bushing with that little 1/4” bolt. The bolt can’t handle it and they break quickly.
