| In my experience, lubrication did not help. This trash was oiled every other hour or so with either bar oil or gear oil in hopes of keeping it cool/going.
It wasn't corn either. This was the cross auger drive chain in a Deere harvester, chopping haylage. There was an exensive thread about it, started by me, over a year ago...
It's also a high speed chain... but from what I've seen in other applications, even low speed chains don't stand up when they're subjected to high torque loads. Chain today from China is not meeting the OEM design requirements for the application where they used a chain to it's limit. It just doesn't work.
