| These planters were built with pto pumps and oil tanks on the planter way back when 71 series magnums and 55 series magnums were out and they have stays that way since. We were having to make new brackets for the pumps every year or other year to fit different tractors and got to thinking with the newer tractors the hyd pumps put out more then enough to handle them. I plumbed it threw the remotes a few years ago and had trouble with guys turning the drum off and leaving the feed motor on so i went to a flow divider a 60/40 to get the flow rate right needed for each circuit.
I had one tractor that would plant good in the morning then would start acting up not responding to the change of pressures on the control box.
The company that builds them started putting them threw the remotes but had a manifold built to divide the flow and get ride of the dump valve and had it all built into the manifold and he is using oil coolers.
I don’t think there is anything special about the manifold vs my setup to justify $5,000 per planter for the manifolds.
A oil cooler would be a cheaper try and i would have it if I did go to the manifold. | |
