Actually, that is very unsafe doing that... Because now if you plug your internet (ISP) cord into the computer ports on a router, you are now sending private IP addresses out to the world... The router is designed to hand out IP addresses to the local computers. Never should you plug your ISP cable into any switch port. Only into the Internet port on routers. The reason the one computer wasn't working is 2 fold. 1, could just simply need a reboot to get a new IP address from the router, or 2, may have a static IP in it from the Hughesnet service, thus requiring you to change it from a static/manual IP to a DHCP IP address. I used to work for a wireless internet provider and at times we would have people plug their cable into the router backwards and then cause all hell... Was a simple fix once we found out what was causing it, but still can be a bear! Good Luck, T.S.
