Central ND | Yep..... that metal detector is important. Im no help with your problem, but a freind got himself a JD chopper this year with a metal detector and he had the same issues you are having. The detector gave problems and would stop the feeding.I suggested to get it repaired. He suggested bypassing it because he said the computer board would have to be sent away since choppers like this in our area are rare and no one has parts or "knowhow".He said he would just unhooked it becasue he HAS TO go and GET DONE! People are waiting for him to come,!and he wasnt afraid of anything being in a corn feild.Well, it only took about ?80 or100 or so acres and he ran a short steel post with sign through the chopper and did plenty of damage, riped out some knives, banged up some sheet metal and cracked knife mountings on the rotor.......damaged shear bar......
What a shame.....
