 western manitoba | Meaning that I feel that in easy cutting it’s just not necessary, and in extreme lodged and/or rocky and rolling land I prefer to lower the skid shoes instead, run in flex, and use crop lifters if necessary.
With the skid shoes, using the fore/aft header tilt for cutter bar height adjustment just works so good. On the countour buddy, the outside gauge wheels are farther back than the inside wheels so using the fore/aft raises and lowers the wings of the header more than than the center.
The biggest advantage I see to this system is, like I said, as training wheels for off the ground cutting with less experienced drivers. The contour buddy won’t let the cutter bar dig into the ground and scoop up rocks in rolling terrain. | |
