Not sure about Netgear, but on a Linksys just plug the wire from your ISP device into one of the computer ports on the router (not the port for line in). That just turns the router into a hub (both wired and wireless) which is what you need if the ISP device is all ready working as a router too.

Doesn't cost much to try.
