Frytown, Iowa | I’m sorry to hear this although I don’t know her or the family. I can’t imagine losing my wife and hope I go first. When I think about your original question I come to the conclusion that we enter this life with 2 certainties… we are all going to die, and we do not know when that time will be. The length of our life cannot be the reason we are living as that would make things really unfair… our wealth or knowledge also can’t be the reason we are living as that is extremely unequal… and we can’t be living strictly for pleasure as the ones that seek the quickest pleasure through drugs and quick highs often have the most miserable lives…
I’ve come to the conclusion that the great equalizer in life no matter how rich or how many assets, how many thrills or highs, whether you worked your life away or were a silver spoon trust fund baby, no matter how long you live or if your government was a good one or a tyrant, whether you grew up in a time of air conditioning or the dark ages the only thing that makes a life worth living is good relationships and who you have a relationship with… especially one. Good relationships can make a persons life worth living even if only a moment or if they live to 90. God has laid out a good plan for relationships to befit both in the relationship and if we have a relationship with Him through Christ, it will be eternal.
Gods plan makes life worth living no matter the duration and the loss of a loved one reminds us how hard the loss of that relationship really is. The loss of a desired relationship is hard at 9 months or 90 years. The good news is we can see them again through Christ who paid the debt of sin (which is death) for the opportunity of an eternal relationship. I am sorry for this families loss. I hope there is comfort in what I shared here. Relationships can be eternal. That is really the only thing the Bible says crosses over from this life to the next… and in that next life we get to have those relationships without the pressure of sin which is constant here on earth. What a great time that will be! Good relationships without hurt.
