You're probably not going to like my answer, but most of the time it goes hand in hand with drainage, specifically pattern tile no more than 40' apart. Anyway, that's what made it go away with me. Tillage just moves it around. Herbicides work, like lv6, sharpen and glyphosate with mso, but you need to do a couple applications in the spring to get both the male and female plants. They're not always out at the same time.

This stuff has an interesting life cycle. Been around about as long as plants have been around and have managed to adapt to some unusual circumstances!
