south texas | When i have ac issues these are my steps.
1. Like above said check vent temp. Most times u can do it just by hand but its easy when its 95f outside, when its 80, need a thermometer. 60 on a new system is a very poor cooling.
2. Pressure check. If its within spec at the shop, take ot out and run it in the feild like normal. I have found many issues like this. Mostly insufficient cooling of the condenser bc of fan or condenser material. Also with newer systems the electric control maybe malfunctioning.
Calibration of the ac system. Doors and potentiometers need cal. I prefer to do these at operating temp so its where im using it.
In my climate, 2.3 x ambient air temp is where the high side should be running after system stabilizes. Low side should be over 8 to keep compressor lubed. 15 is about perfect but I have a 4840 that runs at 10 and is very cold in 95f days. | |
