I am considering buying an AgcoStar 8360 and looking for some help and/or advice. I have some basic info on it (2500 hours, 2 owner, serial number or tractor and engine). Those of you who own or have owned one:
What did you think about it? Likes? Dislikes? What to look for? Issues you have had?
Thanks in advance
Sold a ton of them.
Dislikes...didn't build enough of them, hydraulics are only 35GPM, parts are so-so on availability (mainly the cab type stuff. Have always been able to keep them running)
Likes...BASIC. Mechanical, good power, component built tractor. All of the mechanical parts you can source from just about anywhere. We just put new hinge bearings in one, and they were SHOT...Whatever AGCO didn't have, I sourced in a day from a couple different places, and we had to have one pivot pin machined. All in all, no worse than some other older 4wds, and better than some I have worked on too.
Issues we have had. Axles seals, pretty much like most 4wds. There are a few different axles in them, suggest getting the serial number to make sure which ones it has, the later ones are cheaper to work on, I think they are Raba K698 or maybe 598's. Been a while since I had to do more than an axle seal on one. Other than that, they have a small electric compressor for the Eaton transmission, with a relay and pressure switch. That relay and pressure switch can go bad, not a hard fix.
That's about it. We replace clutches usually around 3-3500hrs depending on how much heavy tillage it was doing, and have never touched a transmission. I know I have a few of them in the area over 6K hours, but most are in the 3-4K hour range. They are all doing tillage work here, either heavy fall tillage, or lighter spring work.
