alfalfa likes to be cut very low. if it is cut above the lowest growing point the plant regrows from the cut stems and relies on photosynthesis much more. If it is cut below and growing points the regrowth comes from the crown and uses more stored energy from the root. makes for better regrowth. basically from what we have seen is a lot more stems regrowing the lower we cut. now if you have grass with it, it doesn't like being snipped off. but we are pure alfalfa stands here.
