Kankakee, IL | Last year I had some soybeans that were planted April 9th at 110K. Hail storm in late May reduced stand to less than 50K, as determined by a team of hail adjusters. It was hail training day apparently as they had 3 guys out. Stand was still consistent throughout 120 acres. Chart said to not replant first week of May, better to take the reduced stand of April 19th. Field ended up at 59 bushels, which is slightly below normal of 60-62.5BPA.
Soybeans can accomplish some pretty amazing things relating to filling in a reduced stand.
