Subject: Re: Soybean yield estimates

Ottawa, Ontario

Seeds per pound varies greatly from variety to variety, so go back to your seed tags to figure that out.

555 seeds per plant, with 3 seeds per pod would equal 185 pods per plant, which would be considered unrealistic. A 40 bushel crop would likely average 30-35 pods per plant, final pop. around 150,000, but really that is just a guess. Estimating soybean yields is easier when the yield is really low. It is easy to pick out the 10-15 bpa crops but once it gets over 40-45 bpa its anybody's guess.
