Southeast South Dakota | changing or eliminating paint scheme is probably reducing drag or weight -
imagine carrying an extra 1000 lbs of rocks or tools in your pickup. Every trip it wouls take more fuel to get where you are going.
Take out the extra weight - save fuel.
That is why they quit putting like several thousand pounds of paint on the rocket boosters for the space shuttle - it just weighed too much.
