Redoak, in my area, southern Bruce County, both in the housing and ag land market, people will sell real estate 2 hours south, pay too much here and still put money in the bank, pretty good logic I would say. Throw in housing demand for workers at the Bruce Power refurbishment and houses that were $300k just a couple years ago are now $600k.
12 th man , I had not been up your way for several yrs. and then went back in 2019 and could not believe the changes. My ex b-i-l farmed just north of #9 at Kinloss, started in '81 100 acres , older 100 sow Farrowing/weaner barn and nice house $100,000 , then his Dad bought another 100 and they rented another 1,000 acres but high interest & weather took him out.....Then an acre here would buy 3-4 there...
My eldest Son did part of his U of Waterloo co-op at Bruce Plant and lived in Tiverton.
What does nice ,tiled workable land bring per acre there or like say chesley/Paisley area? |
