Years ago we grew it for shipping to grocery stores during the winter.Trailer loads of the stuff. Cut it by hand, put in hampers, along with a shovel full of ice, and sent it on it's way to market. Mostly in Southern states.
It is also used as an ornamental flower in floral decorations, but is a different variety than what we eat.

I do not care for it at all.
