I've watched it once and don't actually recall any farmers in the movie trash talking about the quality of corn.

First a 'farmer' says we're growing crap, second it show the guys trying to eat mature field corn and spitting it out saying it's awful and third they ask the 'farmers' do you eat your own corn and they reply no. Thats just from the trailer. Do you understand sweet corn and field corn are completely different? Seems most of the folks in the movie didn't. 40% of corn still goes to feed animals to produce meat which is healthy. Corn sugar is just sweetener and it might be a little cheaper than cane sugar so it gets in more soft drinks - nothing evil or conspiratorial here. Sweetener is sweetener and too much isn't good for anyone - never was and never will be.
Keep in mind, there are a bunch of people that seem to think they are forced into unhealthy diets. It's as if the grocery store was 22 aisles of candy and pop and one aisle of meat, veggies and dairy - last time I checked this wasn't so. It's very easy to have a healthy diet these days, but you have to choose eggs for breakfast instead of twinkies - go figure. Anyway, we're living longer all the time and evil corn isn't shortening anyone's life. We're getting fatter because we don't work anymore and sit in front of a tv/computer monitor and eat junk food.
In the big picture, these 2 guys apparently had the resources to cross the country and do this movie thing. They didn't have to hunt for food and most of their cash didn't go to buying food. As has been said here before, we work our tails off to make food production more efficient - use less fuel, fertilizers, time, money, etc. so most of the world can be productive doing something else. Just because the family farm is larger than it was before means we are more efficient and can do more with less and there are generally less people willing to do it (especially in animal ag) - hey it's work and that's supposed to be bad.
Thanks,
Pat
