Faunsdale, AL | Got into this one thinking it needed just synchronizers. We didn’t know of any other problems but when we split the case, we found a tooth broken off the input shaft and things got more complicated quick!
Input shaft and mating countershaft gear readily available, just a few days out, so no big deal. Gears came in and then I took a closer look at the countershaft and discovered it didn’t have a replaceable gear! Called Allstate Gear back and yep, one series of these transmissions has the countershaft all in one piece. New shaft 10 days to 2 weeks out..... Well I had already looked for a core and couldn’t locate one anywhere, so nothing to do but wait on the new one.
I was surprised that it came in about a week but by this time weather had dried out and I was in the field with no time to work on this guys truck!
Back on it this afternoon after 2” rain Saturday stopped all fieldwork and I have a question that maybe someone knows the answer......
What goes in this hole in the oil pump output passage that leads to the oil cooler? There’s nothing in this one to make oil go to cooler. Instead it’s open to dump all oil back into the case. Am I missing something. I didn’t take anything out and the only foreign material in the bottom of the case was the broken tooth. What gives?
