There's a worst purchase thread just below, so what's your favorite/best purchase?
JD 4720 ehydro, open station, loader, 2 SPD PTO. Need to find another just like it. The two speed PTO is the ticket.
Bought an IH 1066 that was in good general mechanical shape, with new rear tires, but had a cab fire, for $4500.
Took off cab, put new gauges and tach in it for a little over $1000, plus replaced power steering hand pump that was leaking (big shock).
Changed all fluids, and started using it.
It is ugly, but when it was -20 this winter, and the cows HAD to be fed, it always started, and it always got the job done.
Zero problems with it in the several years I've owned it other than the initial issues from the fire.
My neighbor calls his 1066 the AK-47 of tractors. Crude, ugly, but just works and just keeps going. |
