Imo the closed ones are better. It's a tighter crimp.
I had trouble pulling wires off the open barrel ones and have had next to 0 failures for the closed ones.
For a once connected and leave it, the open barrels would work, but for repetitve connecting/disconnecting, I definitely will use my closed barrel ones.
