My granddad told me he would eat raw eggs out of a farmer's chicken house if the farmer did not pay him enough for being a hired hand. This was back around the turn of the century and I don't know if he did this when he was still in his native Denmark or after he came to the US when he was 16 years old. He went on to become a very successful building contractor so the raw eggs must not have hurt him.
