Build soils up to handle removal and stalks, from there just add removal.
Many like to add removal plus 10%.
Some figure out a pretty complicated deal and figure out what the plant needs at different times, and try to have that amount plant available at the times the plants need it. I think this way has a long way to go as we don’t know much about soils breaking down as we think we do, so much depends on the heat and moisture and that nebulous ‘soil health’ thing people speak of.
But we are getting closer. I think.
If it yielded pretty good last year and you don’t know Any soil or tissue tests, I think adding removal rates happens pretty often and is a fair guess for fair yields.
