something no one has mentioned yet was drought hit us 3 out of 5 years in the early 80's. there was no crop insurance. I remember cutting 5 bu beans at $5/bu. that and 18% intrest rates
only way we survived is because of low debt. Spent a lot of time working on old wore out machinery.
