| We had a lot of injectors from that vintage die. They wouldn't throw codes, but the tractor would just throttle back and run poorly around 800 rpm or so. In some cases they would die completely.
I was curious what the actual operating temperature was. We saw it more often when the coolant temperature was 205 or higher. We would manually override the fan drives to about 65%, ECT would run 180-185. and they could run for a week or more with no issues. We tried ECU's and all other things, but they would all end up with a set of reman injectors / cups / injector wiring harness.
And honestly, most ECU issues were related to failing the regen cycles. I can't honestly say we ever had one that was replaced in those era machines that didn't have something to do with multiple failing regens. Come to find out, most of the time, it was the crappy green paint they bake on the original wiring harnesses melting the wires internally when they baked the paint on at the engine factory.
