SW OH | Back in school around 83-84 there was an Ford engineer that came and talked to our class about a prototype truck they had built. It had an 1,800 HP gas turbine and hydrostatic drive. They were using it exclusively to haul parts from Detroit to Miami. He didn't think it would ever make it to production due to all the problems. The main problem was that turbines only do well if speed and engine temperature remain steady and constant. Very hard for a truck on the road to do.
