East Central IL
IH had both a semi and tractor turbine prototype. The white tractor was at the last historic farm days in penfield IL. (might still be there it was on lease from the Smithsonian) The semi was called the ¨turbostar¨ which goes hand in hand with their ¨transtar¨ model. As stated above fuel efficiency was best at wide open and the main problem they had was keeping the dirt out of them. The turbine on the semi if I remember right spun at 34,000 RPM, and was backed by a 5 speed trans. Supposedly it drove a lot like an automatic.
