Subject: RE: Massey 2946A Round Baler

NW Iowa
I have the challenger RB563A, which is basically the same baler. Mine is a 09. It currently has around 8400 bales. Did all grass till i bought it 6 yrs ago, came out of TX. I just replaced the teeth on it last fall. I honestly really did need to yet. Thought some of the springs might be getting weak. Wish i could put the heavier ones on.
The later ones will have heavier pickup teeth, and the roller drive system is a little simpler.
They are good balers and handle cornstalks well. Can make 2000lb bales no problem.
I run a geringhoff head and everything is pretty small and chewed up. It is a little harder on the pickup teeth, especially when it gets tough from dew coming on. It will bend new ones
