Central Western VA Mountains | So I asked a while back about a 1 ton capacity fertilizer spreader - much thanks for the replies. I bought a Kubota VS1000 3pt hitch mounted fertilizer spreader. The base unit is a VS600, I have a hopper extension coming that is delayed in shipping that extends the hopper capacity to 2,200 lbs and enables us to use 1 ton bags of fertilizer. The equivalent spreader was the Vicon 1004 before Kubota bought them.
The spreader is not a spinner type, but a pendulum spreader. Over in the UK, they call them wig-wag spreaders. At 540 PTO, it spreads about 40 ft. The spread is very even and centered.
Our old Lely was a great spreader, but 50 plus years and rust - it was time for something else.
