I checked the parts book and it looks like it just fits by friction behind the rear bearing and that is what the tech seemed to remember. He said it used to be a common problem on 50-55 series tractors but on them it only affected the speed indicator on the dash and didn't shut down the pto like on the 7000 series tractors.
