You could check if you are losing power coming out of the Thermostat when it is shutting off. If so, it could be a faulty Thermostat or the condenser is dirty and not letting enough air through. Lack of air flow through the Condenser, especially in the area of the Thermostat capillary tube, could cause the capillary tube to get cold enough to shut off to prevent freeze up. If you have not blown out the condenser with compressed air, it might be a good place to start. If cleaning does not help and you can use a volt meter or test light, track down at which component you are losing power. Another thought is it could be the High Pressure Switch failing in that the setpoint could have lowered causing it to open up at a pressure lower than the normal operating range. If it is the Pressure Switch, I think the cycle time would be fairly rapid. Dirty Condenser or faulty Thermostat would cause longer cycling like at least 20 seconds on up depending on freon charge, ambient temperature, etc. I am no expert. Just sharing a little experience. Good Luck

One more thought. If by chance the system gets power from a Circuit Breaker, it could be because the Breaker is heating up, tripping , and resetting causing the AC to cycle.
