Nebraska, The land of corn and cattle | Same here, never take it off bales we grind, custom grinder comes and does 80 1 ton bales in an hour, like you said, it would take 2 extra guys just to take the net off trying to keep up. We do take it off if using a processor or when feeding a whole bale though
asked a couple different vets about it before buying a net wrap baler and they all said yes theyve seen cows die from net wrap, but its extremely uncommon, and when it did happen they were pretty sure it hadnt been ground, at most they thought it had went through a processor or it started with a small piece that hadnt been picked off a net wrap bale.
I can see them not knowing the difference when eating off a bale in a feeder, both are kinda long and stringy, tiny ground up pieces of net will most likely pass through. |
