Ohio | Do you have the correct 1000 PTO shaft for that tractor? I can't remember which shaft 540 or 1000 has an extra pin on the shaft to push the fork slider gear into another gear inside, check that?
If they are different then maybe the pin it pushes on is stuck inside the inner shaft and a spring should push it out toward the shorter PTO shaft ?
That's all I can think can cause this?
EDIT: There are several different PTO's, so mine may be different
